Warmer weather and longer days are finally here! It’s time to get outside and enjoy that much needed sunshine. Whether you’re going for a long walk, taking out that bicycle that’s in the corner of your garage, or starting to prep your garden beds for a summer bloom, try these helpful tips to help stay injury free!
#1: Start Slow
#2: Stay Hydrated
#3: Stretch
Becoming more physically active can be tough on the body. Make sure you stretch during or after exercise to make sure your muscles and tendons are prepared for the activities ahead. Not only that, but you might start noticing some improved flexibility and a significant decrease in those annoying aches and pains.
#4: Bring a Friend
Plain and simple, working out is tough. There are days that you may not want to go walk, run, bike, or garden even though you know it’s good for you. I am certainly guilty of it, but one of the key changes to help make getting outside more fun is to bring a friend. They can help not only keep you accountable, but can make the time go by FAST. No friends close to you? Fret not, social media and some quick google searches can put you in touch with numerous exercise groups in the area. The best way to be consistent with exercise is to make it fun!
